Marshall’s Yard to Light Up Gainsborough with Magical Christmas Switch-On Celebration
6 November 2025
The team at Marshall’s Yard are ready for some festive sparkle and community cheer as the centre launches the festive season with the 2025 Christmas Lights Switch-On – taking place on Friday November 14th, 4pm-8:30pm.
The centre, alongside the Gainsborough community, are preparing for one of the biggest events in the town’s festive calendar – an evening packed with entertainment, live music and plenty of Christmas magic.
This year’s switch on event will be hosted by BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Sean Dunderdale, with a special appearance from everyone’s favourite friend, Pudsey Bear.
The celebrations will take place in the Marshall’s Yard central car park, transforming the centre with live performances, children’s amusements, festive food and gift stalls, and a Santa’s Grotto raising funds for children and young people through The Dransfield Foundation.
The highlight of the evening - the big light switch-on moment, will take place at 7pm, officially marking the start of Christmas at Marshall’s Yard.
Families can also enjoy children’s fairground rides, a Star Wars LED walkabout meet-and-greet, cosplay characters, Christmas crafting, and free face painting.
Marshall’s Yard will also host a fabulous line-up of live entertainment throughout the evening, featuring the local Rock Choir, Red Hot Santas Brass Band and to close the event, the ABBA Stars tribute band.
This year’s festive event will feature a fantastic mix of local food and drink traders, including Wrights Panni & Toastie, Amy Elaine Bakes, Bearnice-ities, Duke Of Pork, The Garden Tearoom, Donut King, Madame Crepe, Giant Frying Pan, Beard & Barrel, Worksop Grill and Time & Plaice. Craft and gifting traders include Memories By Design, Made For Amour and Majestic Scents.
This year’s event is proudly sponsored by Gleeson Homes, John Roe Motors, Sills & Betteridge Solicitors, S.W. Cowley & Co Joiners, PING and Wright Vigar Accountants – whose support has helped bring this magical celebration to life.
Melissa Clement, Centre Manager at Marshall’s Yard, said: “The Christmas Lights Switch-On is one of the most special events of the year – it brings families, friends, and neighbours together to celebrate the start of the festive season. With the BBC Lincolnshire Radio team, live music, and so much entertainment for all ages, this year promises to be full of magic.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the local companies who help support and sponsor this fantastic event.”
Large crowds are expected on the night, so visitors are encouraged to walk or use public transport where possible. The surrounding car parks will be busy, with limited parking available within Marshall’s Yard.
Events are taking place across the whole town with the town centre also lighting up for Christmas in the Market Place.
