Marshall’s Yard shines bright at annual Christmas lights celebration
17 November 2025
The festive period has officially launched at Marshall's Yard following a day of fun, food and entertainment to switch on the centre’s sparkling Christmas Lights.
Although the event was rescheduled from last Friday due to Storm Claudia, the Marshall’s Yard team worked swiftly behind the scenes to ensure the hugely popular annual switch-on event could still go ahead – two days later.
The switch-on celebrations began with a fabulous performance from Take That tribute act, Rule The World, setting the tone for a fantastic afternoon of entertainment. This was followed by a seasonal set from the talented Rock Choir, who brought festive energy and powerful harmonies to the event. The fantastic Jaxx Band closed the show.
Children enjoyed free face painting throughout the afternoon as well as visits to Father Christmas in his grotto.
5pm saw the moment everyone was waiting for – the 2025 light switch on. The centre lit up beautifully with the stunning eight-metre-high golden reindeer at the centrepiece of the Yard.
This year’s switch-on was kindly sponsored by S.W Cowley and Co joiners and Wright Vigar Accountants, John Roe Toyota Scunthorpe, Sills and Betteridge, Gleeson Homes.
Centre Manager at Marshall’s Yard, Melissa Clement said: “Rescheduling this year’s switch-on event in just a couple of days was no easy feat – however we were determined to make sure the event went ahead.
“We know how much the Gainsborough community looks forward to the Christmas lights each year, and we’re delighted we were able to run a great event and would like to thank everyone for making it such a special afternoon.”
Jason Sault, Managing Director of S.W. Cowley &Co said: “The Christmas Lights Switch-On at Marshall’s Yard is such a special evening for Gainsborough – it really brings the whole community together. Seeing the town light up, families enjoying themselves, and local businesses all taking part is what the season is all about. We’re proud to be part of something that means so much to the town year after year.”
David Goodall, Director at Wright Vigar, “It’s always fantastic to see so many familiar faces gathered to celebrate the start of Christmas at Marshall’s Yard. Events like this showcase the wonderful community spirit we have in Gainsborough, it’s great to be involved in helping create such a joyful and memorable evening for everyone.”
