Essential traders join first Gainsborough monthly Farmers’ & Craft Market this January.

5 January 2021

Gainsborough monthly Farmers’ and Craft Market will take place this Saturday 9th January from 9am – 3pm, enabling shoppers to stock up on essentials items from local traders.

Traders forming the line up at the first monthly market of 2020 will be offering fresh local produce including fresh cuts of meat and fish, hand prepared fishcakes, freshly baked bread and sweet treats at the outdoor market in Market Place.

The market welcomes returning trader, fishmonger Patrick Capps, selling a variety of mouth-watering fresh fish. Once again, the award winning Redhill Farm Free Range Pork will be joining the line-up, offering their wide range of produce including free range pork joints, pork pies and haslet, sausages, dry cured bacon, plus a range of speciality products.

The monthly market moved from its original location on Market Street to Market Place in June 2020 which allows the market to adhere to all current Covid-19 safety guidelines including socially distanced stalls, wide accessible areas plus there are hand sanitisers on each stall.

The monthly Farmers’ market is held on the second Saturday of every month and is part of a joint initiative coordinated by Marshall’s Yard with West Lindsey District Council.

Since its reopening in June, the outdoor market has been widely supported by traders and shoppers in Gainsborough.

Charlotte Toplass, Marshall’s Yard Tenant Liaison Executive, said: “Gainsborough’s Farmers’ & Craft market makes a welcome return in 2021 and will be open to essential traders, providing shoppers with safe access to locally sourced, freshly prepared produce in an outdoor setting.

“We are pleased the market is able to operate under the latest safety measures and we look forward to welcoming all traders selling both essential and non-essential goods back once again when restrictions are eased, and it is safe to do so.

“We would like to wish all customers a safe and happy New Year.”
