Draw your Dad! Art competition launched to celebrate Father’s Day at Marshall’s Yard

Youngsters are being invited to get creative this Father’s Day by drawing a portrait of their dad as part of Marshall’s Yard’s Father’s Day celebrations.
After unveiling the Mayflower steam train artwork at Central Station behind the Yard in early April, the team at Marshall’s Yard is now turning the artistic spotlight on local dads.
The ‘Draw Your Dad’ competition encourages children to create their own portrait of their dad, alongside a short message explaining why he is so special.
One lucky youngster will win a special hamper full of goodies to gift to their dad this Father’s Day.
The competition has been organised by the centre to give children the chance to say a big thank you to their dads, grandads or father figures for everything they do.
Children wishing to take part can pick up an entry sheet from Browns, Prezzo and The Works, before returning completed entries to the same stores by Friday June 19th. The winner will be announced on Saturday June 20th.
All entries must include the child’s name, age and a parental contact telephone number. Entries will be judged by the centre management team and displayed at Marshall’s Yard.
Assistant Centre Manager Vikki Levick said: “Following the recent installation of the Mayflower artwork at Central Station, we wanted to keep celebrating local creativity and give children the chance to get involved in our Father’s Day celebrations.”
“It’s a lovely way to celebrate all the fantastic dads, grandads and father figures in our community.”
Father’s Day, which falls on Sunday June 21st, will also see the return of the annual tractor event at Marshall’s Yard from 10am to 4pm, when more than twenty vintage Marshall tractors and steam engines will revisit the former factory site.
