Welcome Marshall the bear

The very popular latest addition to Marshall’s Yard has finally got a name.

The big bear joined the award winning Gainsborough shopping centre on the 30th August 2018 and has been waiting patiently to be given a name.

Shoppers at the centre have been posting their suggestions through the special bear post box which has been placed in the centre’s FatFace store for the last week.

With more than 70 entries, the votes were counted and the winning name is MARSHALL – so many people chose the name that a winner had to be selected at random from all those suggesting it.

10 year old, Isabel Tribiani a pupil at Mercer Wood Primary School was the lucky winner to name the bear and receive a Sweet Tradition goodie hamper.

Isabel collected her prize and said: “I was torn between the names Bailey and Marshall but decided I really liked Marshall.”

Assistant Centre Manager at Marshall’s Yard, Charlotte Toplass, said: “The bear has been very popular with local children and we’ve seen lots of lovely pictures on social media.”

Marshall the bear can be found by the communal seating area and fountain at Marshall’s Yard and is great for a selfie snap.
