Spooky Saturday Fun planned for Halloween

18 October 2017

Shops and businesses across Gainsborough are coming together later this month to stage a fantastic day of spooky Halloween fun right across the town.

On Saturday October 28th from 10am in the town centre and 1pm in Marshall’s Yard shopping centre, there will be a fantastic day of family fun for everyone.

The independents group in Gainsborough are running the Town Centre celebrations with the support of Gainsborough Town Council and West Lindsey District Council.

From 9am in the town centre there will be a Halloween Harry Potter themed event with ghoulish rides, music and dance.

There will be a Fancy Dress Competition in the town centre with the parade taking place at 11am, with a second chance of winning some great prizes in the Marshall’s Yard fancy dress parade taking place at 4:00pm. There is also face painting and a spooky Halloween photo booth.

From 1pm in Marshall’s Yard there will be a haunted Halloween themed market and free horse and carriage rides with the Adam’s Family as well as some scary stiltwalkers.

Visitors will be given the chance to take part in a free pumpkin design competition and dawn of the dead mask making workshop from 2pm- 5pm in the Yard – prizes will be awarded for the best designs.

There will be performances from 3pm in the Yard on the stage area with dance acts, live music and the traditional flaming fire act with a firework display on the Riverside closing the event at 6:30pm.

Off stage there will be creepy crawlies, birds of prey and a fairground ensuring there’s something for everyone on the day.

Alison Shipperbottom, Centre Manager of Marshalls Yard said: “We absolutely love Halloween here in Gainsborough and everyone has worked together to put on this fantastic free event across the whole town. There’s lots going on throughout the day and some new attractions this year so please come and join us and don’t forget to bring your best scary costume for the Fancy Dress Parade.”

The Chair of the Independents in Gainsborough Group, Dawn Barron, owner of Barron Bou said “There will be so much going on for all the families across Gainsborough. We are looking forward to joining our events together throughout the day, and finishing with the grand finale at the Riverside for Fireworks.”

The town centre event is partially funded and supported through WLDC’s Councillor Initiative Fund and WLDC’s Gainsborough Town Centre Fund.
