New Lincolnshire Lamb Producer to join Saturday’s Farmers’ Market

7 July 2020

A new trader is joining the Farmers’ & Craft Market in Gainsborough this weekend selling locally bred, reared and produced lamb.

Westwood Farm is a local lamb producer based in the village of Westwood in Lincolnshire. They rear Pedigree Lleyns, Suffolk and Texel mules which graze on the grass land around the farm, carefully monitored to ensure they are happy and healthy in their environment.

Colin and Emma Butcher have now joined the Farmers’ & Craft Market to sell their quality home grown lamb produce for the first time in Gainsborough.

The new trader will join the Market this Saturday (July 11) which will be the second market to take place since lock down restrictions were lifted.

The market is growing back to its pre-lockdown success with over a dozen traders this month joined by regular fruit and veg traders in its new location in the Market Place.

Kevin’s Pies makes its return to the market along with Hepy’s Hog Roast, Sarah’s cakes, MJ Capps fresh fish, The Cheese Shop and Special Edition Chocolate.

The market is also lucky enough to host the Redhill Farm stall, winners of the Golden Fork Award in the Great Taste Awards for Best Speciality Food Midlands & East Anglia, for their free range loin of pork.

As well as food, a range of craft traders will join the line up with a beautiful range of gifts and treats for you or the home and garden.

The move to Market Place in Gainsborough allows for adequate social distancing. Stalls are now set up in a way to keep both traders and customers safe allowing lots of space to keep the 2m distance.

Hand sanitiser is also offered to customers free of charge and traders have removed samples and are taking contactless payments wherever possible.

Centre Manager for Marshall’s Yard, Alison Shipperbottom, said: “We are thrilled to welcome our new traders, Westwood lamb to the market this month, as well as a new artist joining us with their wildlife pictures and coasters.”

“It’s really positive to see many local traders wanting to trade from our market town and we urge visitors and residents to pop to the Market Place this Saturday to see what the market has to offer and support local businesses”.

Gainsborough’s Farmers & Craft market is a joint initiative coordinated by Marshall’s Yard with West Lindsey District Council.
