Marshall’s Yard enjoy some frighteningly good fun at their Halloween Spook-tacular!

1 November 2019

Marshall’s Yard enjoyed thrills, spills and plenty of slime at their Halloween Spooktacular event on Thursday 31st October.

As the sun set in Gainsborough, all the zombies, wicked witches and vampires came out from the shadows to gather and enjoy some spooky Halloween themed activities and entertainment.

The fancy dress parade - led by ‘rag doll’ stilt walkers - was a highlight with over 40 children taking part. They were led round the site before the winners were announced by compere Chris Fox.

Congratulations to 1st place winner Max who became a scary (but cute!) Joker for the evening, 2nd place was awarded to Primrose and 3rd place to Elouise.

Congratulations also go to the Ellis Family who were named the Best Dressed Family.

Retailers got in on the spooky action as they turned out in a host of Halloween fancy dress for the staff competition which was won by the team at Browns Department Store.

Other activities included The slime workshop, organised by The Creation Station, which proved to be very popular as children loved creating their own scary slime, free face painting and a pumpkin decorating workshop. The MY scavenger hunt led participants round the stores in search of the answers to the creepy clues inside!

The crowds gathered to enjoy the live entertainment on stage, including a screaming performance from 60-strong local dance troupe The Studio Gainsborough, a set from musician Malc Haynes, plus a spectacular fire act to finish.

Alison Shipperbottom, Centre Manager, said: “We are delighted with the turn out for our Halloween Spooktacular. This is the first time we had held the event on Halloween night itself for a few years and it was a success.

“It was impressive to see how many adults and children got into character with their creative costumes. We would like to thank The Studio Gainsborough for their amazing dance performance and the fire act who provided some jaw dropping action for the crowds.

“Thank you to all stores who took part and we look forward to welcoming shoppers again for Halloween next year!”
