Love your market this Valentines Day

21 January 2020

Ahead of this Valentine’s Day, Gainsborough will be showcasing the very best of gift ideas at the Farmers’ and Craft Market which will be held on Saturday 8th February.

Market Street will host the monthly market, featuring stalls from the region’s best independent craft and food producers.

Traders will be offering everything from unique jewellery and accessories, hand crafted candles, soaps, bespoke wood carvings and handmade chocolates making this month’s market the perfect place to pick up an extra-special present this year for your loved one.

The market will take place right outside the new Forge Bar and Restaurant – part of the major programme of investment underway in this part of the town.

If you are looking at impressing your significant other with your culinary skill, you’ll find the local produce stalls have all you need. Selling the freshest ingredients in town, the market offers a fabulous array of fresh free-range meat, artisan breads, cakes, fruit and vegetables as well as seafood, specialty cheeses, pies, pickles and preserves.

Traders are also more than happy to share their years of experience by offering top cookery tips on their produce.

Live musical entertainment will be provided by musical duo Shanti who will be serenading shoppers throughout the early afternoon with their own music inspired by Blondie, Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd.

The monthly market was relocated to Market Street last year as part of a joint initiative coordinated by Marshall’s Yard with West Lindsey District Council.

Alison Shipperbottom, Marshall’s Yard Centre Manager, said: “We are looking forward to this month’s market and people showing their love for our local producers this month ahead of Valentine’s Day.

“We’ve kicked off the year with a strong start accepting more new traders to the monthly market including More Bees Please a local beekeeper who produces not only honey, but also other household items created from bees wax.

“More crafters also join us offering a huge choice of gift ideas ready for the 14th February and we look forward to welcoming Hand Made Pies from Yorkshire. Kevin makes a range of meat and vegetarian pies including popular fillings such as steak and potato, chicken and ham, lamb, steak and ale as well as the more unusual such as pork and chorizo and game.”
