Gainsborough gears up for special summer festival

A fantastic weekend of gardening and foodie fun is being planned in Gainsborough this June with activities taking place across the town.

The Gainsborough Garden and Food Festival will be held on Friday June 7th to Sunday June 9th with a packed programme of demonstrations and a range of traders from the popular Continental Street Market event, as well as a host of local and regional producers.

Special celebrity guests throughout the three day event will include the Michelin Star Chef Jean-Christophe Novelli and the CBeebies  presenter Katy Ashworth. Madame Zucchini, from Britain’s Got Talent, will also be running some fun children’s workshops.

The event will take place in Market Place, Market Street, Lord Street and Church Street in the town centre will additional activities and entertainment at Marshall’s Yard.

The event is being organised in partnership by West Lindsey District Council, Gainsborough Town Council, RR Events and the team from Marshall’s Yard.

The popular Continental Street Market event is planned along with local growers and producers which will sit alongside the busy weekly Gainsborough Market.

Cllr Sheila Bibb, Chairman of the Prosperous Communities Committee at West Lindsey District Council said: “We are planning a packed weekend with lots going on throughout the three days of the Festival and I hope to see lots of people out supporting the event.”

She added: “We are delighted to be working with other local partners on something really new and different for the town.  I am sure there will be something for the whole family to enjoy.”

Further details about the full programme of events across the three days will be announced in the coming weeks.

Centre manager at Marshall’s Yard, Alison Shipperbottom, said: “This will be Gainsborough’s first Garden and Food Festival and we are really looking forward to showcasing some great local producers as well as putting on some fantastic entertainment and demonstrations throughout the weekend.”
