Gainsborough gears up for an Autumnal Farmers’ and Craft Market this October

7 October 2019

Traders old and new are preparing for Gainsborough’s Farmers’ and Craft Market which takes place on Saturday, October 12 from 9am-4pm.

Stalls will be brimming with fresh seasonal produce, hot and cold food and drink, plus a variety of handmade crafts and gifts, Market Street really is the perfect place to browse on a chilly autumnal day this weekend.

As well as a full line up of regular traders, including Lincolnshire Poacher Cheese, Redhill Free Range Pork and Pickle's Preserves this month’s Market welcomes The Yarnsmith.

Hayley Stafford from Tuxford, stocks a colourful range of real wool and vegan yarn, plus colour packs and crochet kits. For crochet enthusiasts, The Yarnsmith is a stockist of King Cole yarns and offers a ‘Yarnsmith Crochet Club’ subscription box.

This month’s market also welcomes returning traders Blue Gnu Fudge, selling a range of mouthwatering treats in different flavours – it is impossible to choose just one!

Home Farm Produce will also be making a return, selling succulent meat and cooked products reared at their family farm in North Nottinghamshire. The traders breed pedigree Limousin cattle and free-range rare pigs including large black, Gloucestershire old spot and saddleback.

The monthly Farmers’ and Craft Market, which runs the second Saturday of every month, was relocated to Market Street as part of a joint initiative coordinated by Marshall’s Yard with West Lindsey District Council.

Alison Shipperbottom, Marshall’s Yard Centre Manager, said: “Once again we welcome a full line up of traders to the Gainsborough Farmers’ and Craft Market.

“It’s fantastic to restore a piece of the town’s history to its full glory, with a full line up of traders selling a really lovely range of goods.

“What better way to spend a Saturday than to wrap up warm and take a stroll around the market where you can pick up fresh produce, food, drink and some beautiful handmade gifts.”
