Gainsborough gears up for a festive Farmers’ and Craft Market in December.

22 November 2019

The sound of sleigh bells may definitely be heard at December’s Gainsborough’s Farmers’ and Craft Market on Saturday, December 14.

Open between between 9am-3pm, as usual the market promises to be filled with stalls offering fresh seasonal produce, hot or cold food and drink, handmade crafts and gifts – plus a couple of festive additions to this month’s line up.

Santa Claus is also coming to town on his sleigh as he pays a visit to Market Street spreading Christmas cheer to all the shoppers and traders.

To add to the festive atmosphere, Gainsborough Salvation Army brass band will be playing a selection of music to get everyone in the mood for the big day.

December’s event draws to a close a successful year for the Farmers’ and Craft Market, which trades every second Saturday of the month.

The line-up includes many popular returning traders including Special Editions Chocolates, selling ethically conscious, hand-made chocolate treats in a variety of flavours.

Also returning this month is Ellis Fruit and Veg, a family run business selling only the freshest and tastiest fruit and vegetables.

Plus, shoppers can stock up on last minute Christmas gifts at Plop Creations offering a wide range of bespoke gifts and handmade cards.

You can also find Pickles Preserves, Home Farm Produce, Tooth & Tail, Wild Rose Soap, Good with Wood, Hepy’s Hog Roast, Giddy Kipper Plants, Sophistikated Bags, Mount Pleasant Windmill, Sarah’s Sweet Treats, The Fishcake Company, Capps Fish, and Britton’s Stone.

The monthly Farmer’ market was relocated to Market Street earlier this year as part of a joint initiative coordinated by Marshall’s Yard with West Lindsey District Council.

Alison Shipperbottom, Marshall’s Yard Centre Manager, said: “We are looking forward to a very festive Farmers and Craft Market this December, welcoming a full line up of regular traders. With music from the Salvation Army brass band and a visit from Santa, adding a festive touch to the event is a great way to round off what has been another successful year for the market.

“We would like to thank all traders and shoppers for their support throughout 2019 and look forward to seeing everyone next year!”
