Foodie's spoilt for choice this weekend at Marshall's Yard

15 July 2018

Food lovers were in for a treat when visiting Marshall’s Yard last weekend as the centre's “Big Food Event” made its return to Gainsborough.

Local chefs show cased their culinary skills using some delicious regional produce throughout the day on Saturday July 14th alongside a bumper Farmers’ Market to also tempt the taste buds.

The monthly Farmers’ & Craft Market had some new traders join including The Cheese Shop, The Fishcake Company, Luxury Mallows, Gen's Cakes, Indian Delights and more.

Local chefs stepped into the limelight to demonstrate their skills and gave shoppers some fantastic recipe ideas. The line-up included the Yard’s very own chefs from Cream, Root and Prezzo as well as Josh from Pontis Italian Kitchen who wowed the crowds with his cocktail making skills.

Ponti's Italian Kitchen used the Food Festival as a way of introducing themselves to the town as they will shortly be opening their Italian restaurant and bar on the ground floor of the Travelodge Hotel, which is due to complete in the Autumn.

As well as the food samples handed out, shoppers also enjoyed the sunshine and watching the Wimbledon final and World Cup game that was shown on the big screen in the fountain area. Miss Fizz offered prosecco to mark the events.

Marshall’s Yard’s Centre Manager, Alison Shipperbottom, said the team at the Yard are aiming to build on the success of this year’s Food Event for future years as a celebration of all things local.

She added: “Lincolnshire is certainly not short of delicious local produce and this is a great opportunity to really showcase what we have here in the county as well as demonstrating the skills of some of our local chefs."

The Farmers' and Craft Market runs every second Saturday of the month and a list of traders attending can always be found on the website www.marshallsyard.co.uk
