Father Christmas calls in for breakfast surprise at Marshall’s Yard

11 December 2017

Marshall’s Yard teamed up with Root last week and treated five lucky, local families to a festive morning after winning a social media competition.

The five families enjoyed a complimentary breakfast at the centre’s eatery, Root, with the added surprise of a visit from Santa.

The breakfast with Santa event coincided with the North Notts Lions attending the December Farmers’ and Craft market with their Santa and Sleigh.

Centre Manager at Marshall’s Yard, Alison Shipperbottom, said: “It was wonderful to see our five winning families enjoy a lovely breakfast and time with Santa. We hope all families enjoyed their morning and of course come back and visit Root again.”

Root opened during the summer last year and has rapidly become popular for its healthy, clean eating range of food and drink served all day. Husband and wife team, Michael and Mette Robinson, have devised a delicious menu of wraps, sandwiches, cakes and other treats along with fresh juices and smoothies.

Despite the bitterly cold weather many shoppers turned out to do their Christmas shopping at the market which offered a good range of handmade gifts as well as the usual favourite such as Redhill and Spotted Dog Flower Company.

The team at Marshall’s Yard have enjoyed getting everybody into the festive spirit this year kicking off with their biggest yet Christmas lights switch on event, hosting the Coca Cola Truck Tour for the first time in Gainsborough and providing Santa’s mailbox for the second year running.

To continue the festivities, this Thursday (December 14th) the local Scout group will be singing carols round the huge Christmas reindeer from 4:30pm and everyone is welcome to join in a carol sing with the Salvation Army Brass Band from 6pm.

Free mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies will be handed out and the shops will all be open until 8pm.

The centre’s management team will also be offering a free Christmas gift wrapping service from Britannia House from 5pm until 7pm.
