DN21 Awards 2020 gain momentum

5 February 2020

Entries are already starting to flood in from businesses across Gainsborough for the DN21 Awards which return this year to celebrate the great businesses right here in the town.

The awards opened for submissions last Friday (January 31st) and already businesses are starting to submit their entries – outlining why they should win their chosen categories.

There are twelve awards in total up for grabs which are aimed at the retail, commercial, hospitality and industry sector businesses within the DN21 postcode area.

The team at Marshall’s Yard has once again joined forces with Trinity Football Club to bring the business community in Gainsborough together to celebrate and reward the excellent retailers and services in the town.

This year Invest Gainsborough are the main sponsors of the event.  The group of businesses work together to act as key ambassadors for the town - promoting it as a place to live, work, visit and invest, helping to steer West Lindsey’s ambitious programme of development.

Steve Gelder, Chairman of the Invest Gainsborough Board, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting this local event celebrating Gainsborough’s great businesses. As key stakeholders in the town, individuals on the board have watched the event grow year on year and believe it’s a fantastic way to concentrate our efforts not only on attracting new businesses to the town but also celebrate those existing businesses that are already here - some of which have undergone huge expansion plans recently and have traded in the town for over 100 years.”

Alongside this headline sponsor, several other local businesses have already got behind the initiative by sponsoring the various awards ranging from Business of the Year to the Customer Service Award as well as awards recognising green credentials, efforts on social media and even individual staff members as “shining stars.”

Sponsors so far include Wright Vigar, Kerry, Ping, Thonock Park, Darron Childs Practice, Martin & Co and Horsleys. Further opportunities are still available for businesses who want to be involved.

Marshall’s Yard’s Centre Manager, Alison Shipperbottom, said: “There is a real buzz amongst the business community in Gainsborough at the moment and it’s great to see all the entries starting to come in.

"It’s also encouraging to see some new business enter this year’s awards following positive feedback from previous events. There are some big names entering as well as some of the smaller businesses in the town showing off the full extent of what we have here in the town – but we’re still keen to receive more.

“The public are also now getting involved and since voting opened on our website www.dn21awards.com yesterday over 200 people have voted for their favourite retailer in town proving that the stores are really campaigning with their shoppers to get the votes in.”

The awards are free to enter and the presentation will be marked with a glitzy event held at Thonock Park on the 30th April.

Chairman of Trinity Football Club, Richard Kane, said “There’s been a great response from local business people for this event. Marshall’s Yard and the town are really coming together again for the DN21 Awards and we hope this builds further on the partnership working the Club is undertaking to build on putting Gainsborough on the map.

“We hope to see the venue full again this year but remember bookings go fast so do get in quickly with your table bookings.”
