Crowds turn out as Marshall’s Yard Launches Christmas

20 November 2023

More than 8,500 people flocked to Marshall’s Yard at the weekend to enjoy the centre’s launch of Christmas event which took place across two days on Friday and Saturday.

Friday’s line up featured a show stopping performance by the Spark LED drummers as well as live music from local talent including JAXX Band and Sarah Stones.

The stage also welcomed local choirs from Corringham Primary School and Connexions who got the crowds into the true Christmas spirit.

A festive reindeer stilt walker, Star War’s walk about characters and free face painting was also on offer throughout the evening.

Children were treated to the chance to visit Gainsborough’s own Santa’s Grotto as it officially opened to the public on Friday between Next and M&S Foodhall. The grotto will be open with a chance for children to meet Santa most weekends leading up to Christmas including next weekend [25 and 26 November] from 11am until 3pm.

On Saturday Western Hope, The Rock Choir, John Grant, Freddie Halkon and Lee Douglas treated the crowds to live performances.

There was late night shopping, fairground rides and more than 20 food, drink and gift stalls on offer for event goers throughout the weekend.

Local McDonalds franchisee, Bomead who are based at the centre’s Pattern Store offices, were the headline sponsor for the event but many more local businesses contributed towards making the event happen including SW Cowley, Connexions and Browns department store.

With the centre’s stunning Christmas lights display now on, shoppers can really get into the festive mood whilst carrying out their Christmas shopping, taking advantage of all the Black Friday deals taking place in stores across this week. For more information visit www.marshallsyard.co.uk/offers.

Jodie Pacey, Centre Manager at Marshall’s Yard, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone, especially our main sponsors and centre businesses, for making this year’s launch of Christmas such a great event.

“We’ve had some lovely feedback and it really has launched the festive season here in at the Yard. We’re now busy planning for the remainder of the Christmas events calendar with something taking place at the centre every weekend up until Christmas for our shoppers to enjoy.”
