Late night shopping and music at Marshall's Yard

LATE night shopping gets off to a tuneful start at Marshall's Yard in Gainsborough this week with a brand new Thursday closing time of 8pm.

Evening shoppers will be serenaded by local band Jery at Controls on Thursday (February 28th) launching the new opening hours which will apply from this week onwards.

Some of the retailers already open late throughout the week, but this Thursday will see most retailers opening until 8 pm, with only the smallest stores at the centre closing earlier. The centre will also be showcasing local musical talent every Thursday as part of its entertainment programme.

Marshall’s Yard centre manager, Janet Linfoot, said: “Laura Ashley, Halfords, Next, JJB, M&S and Wilkinson already trade until 8 pm, but we wanted at least one evening where shoppers can visit all the stores on the centre later in the evening. The opening of Prezzo Italian restaurant which trades until 11 pm has already increased evening activity on the site, and by encouraging all stores to open until 8 pm on a Thursday, both retailers and shoppers will benefit.”

New stores extending their hours as part of the new initiative include Carphone Warehouse, Claire's, Holland & Barrett, Julian Graves, New Look, Stringers Hairdressing, Stanley Hunt Jewellers, The Florist, The Works, Specsavers and Brantano.

Costa Coffee will continue to open until 8 pm with the JJB health club opening until 10 pm weekdays and 8am - 8pm Saturdays & Sunday. Retail Sunday trading at the centre will remain from 10 am until 4 pm.

Jery at Controls is a four piece acoustic band from Mattersey. They play a combination of their own songs and cover versions and are slowly building up a loyal following after recent appearances at clubs in Retford and Doncaster. The band will be playing from 6.00 pm until 8.00 pm. 

Shoppers can also take advantage of the new call and collect service avaialable at Marshalls Yard where they can select items they want to buy through store website and reserve them at no extra charge. for details visit www.marshallsyard.co.uk
